Group composed of main cast members performed 1st season's opening

The official Twitter account for the Kemono Friends franchise revealed that "Dōbutsu Biscuits x PPP" is performing the opening song "Notteke~ Japari Beat" (Get on Board! Japari Beat) for Kemono Friends 2, the anime's second season. Masayoshi Ōishi (Overlord, Monthly Girls' Nozki-kun opening songs) is writing the lyrics and composing the song.

"Doubutsu Biscuits x PPP" is composed of voice actresses Yuka Ozaki (Serval), Kana Motomiya (Fennec), Saki Ono (Common Raccoon), Mikoi Sasaki (Royal Penguin), Ruka Nemoto (Emperor Penguin), Kyōka Tamura (Gentoo Penguin), Aina Aiba (Rockhopper Penguin), and Ikuko Chikuta (Humboldt Penguin). The same group performed the opening song for the first season.

The anime will premiere on January 7 at 26:05 a.m. (effectively January 8 at 2:05 a.m.) on TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, TV Aichi, and AT-X. The cast will appear at preview screenings of the first episode in 11 venues throughout Japan from December 17 to December 26.

The new season's story begins with Serval and Caracal finding a "human" child in the forest. As they travel with the child, they meet new Friends, uncover the secrets of Japari Park, and become involved in an event that will "shake the earth."

New cast members include:

  • Yui Ishikawa as Child
  • Riko Koike as Caracal
  • Madoka Suge as Western Parotia
  • Mashiro Yagi as Greater lophorina
  • Mami Yamashita as Margay
  • Kaori Maeda as Giant Panda

Ryuichi Kimura (Aikatsu!) is directing the anime at Tomason. Takuya Masumoto is writing and supervising the series' scripts. Hideo Taniguchi (Folktales from Japan) is the CG director. Nobuyuki Abe returns as the sound director. Yasuyuki Konno is credited for sound effects. Akiyuki Tateyama returns as the music composer. Shinnosuke Numata is credited as animation producer.

Nexon's original Kemono Friends app game launched in early 2016 and ended service in December of that year — before the Kemono Friends anime even aired. The 12-episode television anime then premiered on TV Tokyo and TV Osaka in January 2017 and ended in March 2017. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired, and is also currently streaming the Welcome to the JAPARI PARK (Yōkoso Japari Park) spinoff anime.
