Nisekoi Manga Gets New Spinoff Chapter

Manga commemorates release of live-action film adaptation on December 21

The second 2019 issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed on Monday that Naoshi Komi will draw a spinoff chapter for his Nisekoi - False Love manga in the magazine's next issue on December 17. The chapter will have a center color page in the magazine, and will be 23-pages long.

The manga will commemorate the release of the live-action film adaptation, which opens in Japan on December 21. The manga itself will center on Raku getting tickets for "a certain movie" as he is coming home from school one day.

The third issue of Weekly Shonen Jump will also feature a collaborative poster, and six pages of "gravure" shots for the live-action characters Chitoge, Kosaki, and Marika. Additionally, the third issue will feature a special dialogue between Kento Nakajima and Ayami Nakajō, who star as Raku and Chitoge in the film respectively.

Komi drew the original "Nisekoi" one-shot manga in Shueisha's Jump Next! magazine in early 2011, and turned it into a manga series in Weekly Shonen Jump in November of the same year. The manga ended in August 2016. Shueisha published the manga's 25th and final compiled book volume in October 2016, and Viz Media published the 25th volume on January 2. The manga has more than 12 million copies in print in Japan.

The series inspired two television anime seasons. The anime's first season premiered in Japan in January 2014 with 20 episodes. The 12-episode second season premiered in Japan in April 2015. Crunchyroll streamed the first series, and Aniplex of America streamed the second series on the Aniplex Channel, Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Daisuki services. Aniplex of America released both seasons on home video.
