Tori Matsuzaka, Mizuki Yamamoto star in show premiering in April

Fuji TV announced on Wednesday that it is producing a live-action series adaptation of Rie Aruga's Perfect World manga that will premiere on Fuji TV and Kansai TV in April and air every Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. The series will star Tori Matsuzaka (left in picture below) as Itsuki Ayukawa, while Mizuki Yamamoto will play Tsugumi Kawana.

Keiichirō Shiraki is directing the series, with scripts by Mayumi Nakatani.

Kodansha Comics is releasing the manga digitally in English, and describes the story:

26-year-old Tsugumi Kawana reunites with her first crush from high school, Itsuki Ayukawa, at a get-together between an architecture firm and the interior design company she works at. He sends her heart aflutter, until she realizes he's now disabled, and in a wheelchair. At first she feels she couldn't date a guy in a wheelchair, but then her feelings begin to change …

Aruga launched the manga in Kiss magazine in February 2015. Kodansha published the manga's eighth volume last September. Kodansha Comics published the seventh volume in English last October.

A live-action film adaptation opened in Japan last October. The film earned 17,380,800 yen (about US$153,800) to rank #4 in its opening weekend.
