Dropkick on My Devil! Manga Chapter With Knife Attack Pulled From Site

Removal follows Tuesday knife attack in Kawasaki

The website for Flex Comix's web magazine Comic Meteor has removed the 148th chapter of Yukiwo's Drop Kick on my Devil! (Jashin-chan Dropkick) manga. The website did not confirm the reason for the removal but noted a "dangerous" depiction in the chapter. The chapter reportedly contains images of a knife attack on a train.

A 51-year-old man named Ryūichi Iwasaki attacked a group of elementary-school children in Kawasaki, Kanagawa on Tuesday morning. The attack killed 11-year-old Hanako Kuribayashi and Foreign Ministry official Satoshi Oyama, and injured 17 other people. Iwasaki later died from a self-inflicted knife wound. Police are investigating the motive for the attack.

The original comedy manga by Yukiwo centers on Yurine Hanazono, a college student who summons Jashin-chan, a demon from the underworld. Now they must live together in a run-down apartment in Tokyo's Jinbōchō district. If Yurine dies, Jashin-chan gets to go back to the underworld, so she constantly plots to kill Yurine.

Yukiwo launched the manga in Flex Comix's web magazine Comic Meteor in April 2012, and Holp Shuppan released the 12th compiled book volume on April 11.

The manga received an anime adaptation, and the first season premiered on July 9. The anime is streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video inside and outside of Japan. Amazon Prime Video premiered the final bonus episode on October 1. A second season has been green-lit.
