Netflix Adds Grancrest War and Samurai 7

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Both series available dubbed and subtitled

Anime UK News reports that the two series Record of Grancrest War and Samurai 7 have been released on Netflix.

The 24-part series Record of Grancrest War, pictured right, is available on Netflix here, both dubbed and subbed. The anime is based on the light novel series by author Ryo Mizuno and illustrator Miyū. Mamoru Hatakeyama (Shōwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjū, Sankarea: Undying Love) directed the series at A-1 Pictures. The series takes place on a continent ruled by chaos. Siluca is an isolated mage, and Theo is a wandering knight; they make an everlasting oath to each other as master and servant, and work together to reform this continent.

The 26-part series Samurai 7, pictured right, is on Netflix here, both dubbed and subbed. Shown in Japan in 2004, the Studio Gonzo series is a futuristic remake of Akira Kurosawa's world renowned 1954 film Seven Samurai.

In the series, a small village is being persecuted by robbers who return every harvest to seize the village's crops. Faced with starvation, the villagers send out a mission to find and recruit some samurai to defend them. With no pay to offer except rice, and knowing full well that only down-on-their-luck samurai would even consider accepting such an deal, the villagers can only hope that their saviours will appear before the rice is ready for harvest.
