8-bit music unit collaborates on mini-game, remix of sora tob sakana's new opening

The official Twitter account for the anime of Rensuke Oshikiri's Hi Score Girl manga began streaming the second promotional video for the anime's second season, Hi Score Girl II, on Sunday. The promotional video teases the return of the love triangle as the story heads towards "the final fight in both love and games." The video also features the new opening theme song "flash" by sora tob sakana.

The video and the Twitter account note that the 8-bit music unit YMCK is collaborating on a remix of "Flash" that will be on the song's November 13 CD release. In addition, Hi Score Girl and YMCK are collaborating on a mini-game, and pixel art for the collaboration will be put on goods:

The Twitter account is also streaming a promotional video for episodes 13 to 15 of the first season. These episodes debuted on home video in March, and will premiere on television from October 5 to October 19, before the October 26 premiere of the second season.

The nine-episode second season will premiere on Tokyo MX on October 25 at 25:05 (effectively October 26 at 1:05 a.m.), before debuting later that night on MBS and BS11. The series will stream on Netflix. The first anime season's episodes 13-15 will also make their television debut on Tokyo MX on October 4 at 25:05 (effectively October 5 at 1:05 a.m.), and they will also air on MBS and BS11.

The staff of the previous season will return, but Yūya Hatano is replacing Eri Sekido as character modeling director. The cast is also returning from both the first season and the original video anime.

Yoshiki Yamakawa (Hells, Kill Me Baby, Little Busters!) is directing the anime at J.C. Staff. Tatsuhiko Urahata (Hajime no Ippo, Saki, Tsuredure Children) is in charge of series composition. Michiru Kuwabata (Penguin no Mondai, Danchi Tomoo) is drawing the character designs. Yūsuke Suzuki is the CG director. Yoko Shimomura (Street Fighter II, Final Fight, Final Fantasy XV, Napping Princess) is composing the music. Yuji Matsukura is credited for animation supervision. Tomoyasu Sakakibara (Monster Strike The Movie, Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic) is credited as CGI producer, and Shogakukan Music & Digital Entertainment is credited for CGI.

Etsuko Yakushimaru will return to perform the ending song "Unknown World Map" for Hi Score Girl II. Yakushimaru previously performed the ending song "Hōkago Distraction" (Afterschool Distraction) for the first season.

The first season premiered on television in Japan in July 2018. Netflix began streaming the show outside of Japan on December 24. The original video anime (OVA) episodes shipped on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in Japan on March 20 along with a new eight-page manga by Oshikiri. The new episodes also began streaming on Netflix on the same day.

The story of the "90s arcade romantic comedy" manga begins in 1991, during the heyday of the 2D fighting game boom. Sixth-grader Haruo spends practically his entire day at an arcade in the seedy part of town, oblivious to the world around him. However, one day at his usual arcade, he encounters Akira, his female classmate with good grades and money. She may look out of place at the arcade, but she is actually a top-class gamer. Akira completely outmatches Haruo in one Street Fighter II round after another, and their relationship develops from this unlikely encounter.

Oshikiri's original manga ended in September 2018.
