The 47th Angoulême International Comics Festival announced its nominees for Best Comic on November 22, which includes two manga:

H.P. Lovecraft's At The Mountains Of Madness was also nominated in the same category last year.

Kōhei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia and Tony Valente's Radiant works are both nominated for this year's Best Youth Comic award.

Yoshiharu Tsuge's Le Fleurs Rouges omnibus book is nominated for Best Heritage Comic. The event will also host a retrospective for Tsuge that will feature more than 250 original images.

Additionally, Paru Itagaki's BEASTARS manga and Akiko Higashimura's Yukibana no Tora manga are both nominated for the Best Young Adult Comic award.

The event will also host an exhibition about fantasy and folklore that will include works such as Naruto, and a separate exhibition will focus on Battle Angel Alita.

This year's Angoulême Festival runs from January 30 through February 2 in the Angoulême area of France.

Last year, Rumiko Takahashi received the Grand Prix d'Angoulême. The award entitles Takahashi to be the marshal for the 2020 awards.

The festival launched in 1974 as an event celebrating comics from countries throughout the world.
