BFI Japan Season Starts May 11, Includes Anime

The British Film Institute (BFI) has announced that it will launch a six-month season on the BFI Player service on Japanese cinema, including anime. This will be followed by screenings of Japanese films in the BFI Southbank once cinemas are able to reopen, including anime screenings in 2021.
The announcement mentions the directors Hayao Miyazaki and Satoshi Kon, but does not specify film titles or dates.
The BFI Player season is called BFI Japan 2020: Over 100 Years of Japanese Cinema, and will run from May to September in 2020. It will consist of nine thematic collections, including an Anime collection which will go online on July 31. Other collections will be themed around Akira Kurosawa (from May 11), Yasujiro Ozu (from June 5) and J-Horror (from October 30). Subscription to BFI Player costs £4.99 a month, with a 14-day free trial for new customers.
Also, there will be a season of anime at the BFI Southbank in 2021.
Additionally, the BFI magazine Sight & Sound will publish a special issue on anime at the end of May.
