posted on by Adriana Hazra
Petition started in December has 16,000+ signatures

A petitioner on the Change.org website is petitioning Disney India for "Pokémon in India with Proper Management." The petition originally started in December, and has been circulating on Facebook and YouTube more recently. The petitioner alleges that fans "Want Pokémon To be aired With Proper Schedule on Disney Network."

The petition has since gained approximately 1,800 new signatures, bringing its total number of signatures to 16,833 as of press time.

The TV listings aggregator app "What's On India: TV Guide App" is currently listing that the Pokémon: DP Battle Dimension (Pokémon - Diamond and Pearl: Battle Dimension) anime is airing on Hungama TV. Disney and Hungama TV have not specifically stated that the petition had any effect of the airing of the series on Hungama TV.

Disney India has not made any official announcements about airing further seasons of Pokémon on Hungama TV or Marvel HQ.

Update: ANN is starting to reach out to Indian readers by writing about more localized news for the Indian market, and as such we are shining a light on local fan initiatives, including fan petitions, club meetings, fan events, and more. Direct mention of fan initiatives or its members and supporters does not imply ANN's support of those initiatives, members, or supporters. Additionally, in the case of fan petitions, we are not implying that the petitions have a direct impact on the decisions of companies in India.

Update 2: Reworded information about Pokémon: DP Battle Dimension currently airing in India.
