posted on by Adriana Hazra

Netflix started streaming the following anime in India on Monday:

The Puella Magi Madoka Magica television anime premiered in January 2011. Netflix India describes the story:

In return for helping a strange creature in his fight against witches, 14-year-old Madoka Kaname is granted mystical powers -- that come with a price.

The anime inspired the two Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part 1: Beginnings and Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie Part 2: Eternal compilation films, and the Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie Part 3: Rebellion sequel film.

A television anime adaptation of the Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story smartphone game premiered in January 2020. The anime will get a second season. The anime's staff opened a commemorative website on January 7 in honor of the anime's debut in 2011.

The anime studio Gainax premiered the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann television anime in Japan in 2007. The Gurren Lagann the Movie –Childhood's End- compilation film debuted in Japan in 2008, and its sequel film Gurren Lagann the Movie – The Lights in the Sky Are Stars premiered in 2009. Netflix India describes the story:

Living in a future where humans dwell in underground villages, orphans Kamina and Simon dream of visiting the world on the surface of the planet.

The series has also inspired two Gurren Lagann Parallel Works original video anime, various manga adaptations and spinoffs, and a stage play.

The 26-episode television anime of Tsutomu Satou's The irregular at magic high school light novel series debuted in April 2014. Netflix India describes the story:

Sibling Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba begin their studies at the elite Magic High School, where chaos soon erupts in the form of a terrorist attack.

Manabu Ono directed the anime at Madhouse. The novels also inspired The irregular at magic high school The Movie: The Girl Who Summons the Stars anime film, which opened in Japan in June 2017.

The anime's second season, Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei: Raihōsha-hen (The Irregular at Magic High School: Visitor Arc), began airing in July. It adapts the arc of the same name from volumes 9-11 of Satou's light novel series.

Yen Press licensed the original The irregular at magic high school light novel series and Yu Mori's The Honor Student at Magic High School spinoff manga. The overall book and manga franchise has 15 million copies in print, and the original novels have 10 million copies in print.

Netflix India added both seasons of the anime adaptation of Tsukasa Fushimi's Oreimo light novel. The streaming service describes the story:

Normal 17-year-old Kyosuke isn't close with his 14-year-old sister Kirino. But then her secret Otaku hobby gives them a chance to reconnect.

Oreimo 2 adapts the plot of the original light novel series all the way through the final novel volume. The first anime aired in 2010-2011 and the sequel series aired in 2013.
