Hayao Miyazaki's 1997 film will be screened in the Barbican Centre's Sculpture Court

Tickets are available for a summer outdoor screening of Hayao Miyazaki's 1997 fantasy Princess Mononoke on Saturday August 27. The screening will take place at 8.30 p.m. in the Barbican Centre's Sculpture Court.

The film is described on the website as follows:

"An epic battle between animals and humans is the backdrop of Hayao Miyazaki's stunning animated fantasy. Prince Ashitaka, a young warrior, becomes cursed by a demon and seeks a cure, encountering the mysterious Princess San, and ending up in the midst of an epic war between forest spirits and humans. An epic quest to restore the natural balance unfolds, told through some of the most beautiful animation ever seen on the big screen."

The film is part of an "Outdoor Cinema" season at the Barbican Centre through the summer, which complements an exhibition at the Barbican called "Our Time on Earth." The season will also include the 1961 live-action Japanese monster film Mothra on August 24 and the French science-fiction animated film Fantastic Planet on August 26, both at 8.30 p.m.

Seating is first come, first served. In the event of "extreme or unsafe" weather, the event will be cancelled and refunded. More information is available at the above link.
