One Piece Film Red Anime Gets Early Preview Screenings in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore

posted on by Adriana Hazra
Screenings take place on October 4

PVR Pictures announced on Thursday that it will host "special fans screenings" for the One Piece Film Red anime ahead of its pan-Indian release. The screenings will take place on October 4 at two PVR Cinemas locations in Mumbai and one location each in Pune and Bangalore.

PVR Cinemas will provide attendees with exclusive film merchandise such as can badges.

The film will open in India on October 7 and screen in Japanese with English subtitles.

PVR Pictures announced the license in early August and describes the film's story:

The story takes place on an island where Uta, the world's most popular diva, performs for the first time in public. Uta's voice, with which she sings while hiding her true identity, has been described as "otherworldly".

The film opened in Japan on August 6. The film had IMAX screenings in 27 theaters in Japan that opened alongside regular screenings. The film also had MX4D, 4DX, and Dolby Atmos screenings on opening day.

The film centers on a new character named Uta, Shanks' daughter. Kaori Nazuka is the speaking voice of Uta, while Ado is the character's singing voice. Ado also performs the film's theme song "Shinjidai" ("New Genesis").

Goro Taniguchi (Code Geass, One Piece: Defeat The Pirate Ganzak! special) directed One Piece Film Red. Tsutomu Kuroiwa (One Piece Film Gold, One Piece: Heart of Gold, GANTZ:O, live-action Black Butler) wrote the screenplay, and One Piece manga creator Eiichiro Oda himself served as executive producer.

Oda also designed the "battle wear" characters for the film, which have a theme of "rock x pirates" and feature leather and studs for a Middle Ages armor vibe.
