London IMAX Screenings of Ghost in the Shell and Metropolis in September

BFI IMAX screening of Ghost in the Shell in September 10, followed by Metropolis on September 17

The BFI IMAX cinema in London (near Waterloo station, will have two anime screenings in September: a screening of Mamoru Oshii's original 1995 Ghost in the Shell (pictured below left) on Sunday September 10 at 1.45 p.m. and a screening of Rintarō's 2001 film Metropolis (pictured right), at 11.30 a.m on Sunday September 17.

The tickets go on general sale from Thursday 10 August at 11.30 p.m., while BFI members can order tickets from Tuesday August 8 at 11.30 a.m., and BFI Champions can order tickets from Monday 7 August to BFI Champions at 11.30 a.m.

Ghost in the Shell is described on the BFI IMAX website as follows:

"Director Oshii's stunning animated 2029-set anime classic centres on Public Security Section 9's hunt for supreme hacker The Puppet Master. This is a world where governments are dependent on computer controlled systems, and cyber terrorists pose the biggest threat to global stability. Ghost in the Shell remains one of the most influential anime films of all time..."

Metropolis is described on the BFI IMAX website as follows:

"Set in a futuristic city at the height of its civilisation, Metropolis tells the story of Tima - a beautiful and mysterious female who does not realise that she is a humanoid robot. It is Tima who must discover her true self and begin to bridge the gap between the humans and humanoid robots of Metropolis. She must also stop Metropolis's dark dictator Reddoko and save the entire city... Written, directed and inspired by some of the best names in both anime, manga and science fiction this version of Metropolis is one to be experienced on the UK's largest screen."
