EXCLUSIVE, THREE-YEAR DEAL BRINGS "GREATEST RACER OF ALL TIME"

Legendary animated race car driver Speed Racer will join Wind Tunnel host Dave Despain for an exclusive interview Monday at 9 p.m. ET on Speed Channel, dropping the green flag on the classic cartoon's recently inked, three-year deal between the network and DiC Entertainment.

With an assist from Atlanta-based Primal Screen, Speed Racer will join Despain to talk about his storied career behind the wheel of the supercharged Mach 5, giving Speed Channel viewers updates on Pops Racer, Racer X, Trixie, Spritle and the rest of the Speed Racer gang.

"We've had a lot of fun with this," said Speed Channel President Jim Liberatore. "Several of the biggest names in motor sports -- John Force, Helio Castroneves, Bobby Labonte, Jimmie Johnson, Richard Childress -- helped us build the anticipation for the Wind Tunnel interview and the debut of Speed Racer on SPEED. Our Web site continues to be flooded with speculation about who the special guest will be."

The first episode, entitled "The Great Plan," will debut Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET. Speed Racer will run Monday thru Friday at 6 p.m. ET, Saturday and Sunday mornings beginning at 7 a.m., and late night Friday with replays from midnight to 2 a.m.
