Gary Steinman Joins Newtype USA as Editor-in-Chief

Houston, TX, January 12, 2004—Newtype USA, the leading consumer magazine for anime and manga fans, has appointed Gary Steinman Editor-in-Chief of the publication. The announcement was made today by John Ledford, the Publisher of Newtype USA and the CEO and founder of its parent company, A.D. Vision, Inc.

Steinman, the former Managing Editor of Ziff Davis' Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine, brings his love and enthusiasm for the genre and an extensive journalism background to the year-old publication. As Editor-in-Chief, Steinman will be responsible for the day-to-day operations while also defining the editorial voice of the budding magazine.

While Managing Editor of OPM, Steinman managed operations for the publication and was also responsible for overseeing the editorial content of its Spin section, a 20 to 30 page front-of-book assortment of news, lifestyle, features and commentary. Steinman wrote cover stories on a range of topics, from the multi-million-selling Final Fantasy franchise to the Tomb Raider movie. Steinman also reviewed hundreds of games for OPM as well as other Ziff Davis publications. Steinman worked in close collaboration with Sony, the manufacturer of the PlayStation game platform, and third-party software publishers on providing content for the Sony-produced demo disc included in the magazine. He also worked with Sony marketing executives on various issues relating to the magazine's official license. During his five-year tenure with Ziff Davis, Steinman was involved with two major redesigns of the magazine.

Prior to his employment with Ziff Davis, Steinman served as Copy Editor of TheStreet.com, a leading provider of independent and insightful investment commentary, advice, research and news. Steinman has also held the post of Associate Editor for The Conference Board, a global, independent membership organization that creates and disseminates knowledge about management and the marketplace to help businesses strengthen their performance and better serve society; and worked his way up from Research Editor to Managing Editor of Selling, a newsletter for sales professionals.

Steinman, who earned his Bachelor of Arts Cum Laude from New York University, began his journalism career with Barron's before joining Working Woman magazine as a Research Editor.
