Burn Up Excess; Happy Lesson; Mutant X; Saiyuki; and Slayers

HOUSTON, March 24, 2004—ADV Films, the #1 producer-distributor of anime in the U.S., today announced release dates for five titles that hit the streets April 27 and May 11.

BURN UP EXCESS: COMPLETE COLLECTION, “WARRIOR CASE FILES”

COMPLETE COLLECTION OF UPROARIOUS POLICE ACTION-ADVENTURE

ADV Films, the #1 producer-distributor of anime in the U.S., has set an April 27, 2004 DVD release date for Burn Up Excess: Complete Collection, “Warrior Case Files” with all thirteen episodes of the fan-favorite police action series, featuring an all-female squad of five officers—ravishing Rio, Machiavellian Maki, munitions-happy Maya, intellectual Lillica and slightly neurotic Nanvel—battling crime in Neo Tokyo.

Burn Up Excess was produced by AIC (Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040, Oh My Goddess!) and directed by Shenichiro Kimura (Handmaid May). The animation was directed by character designer Yūji Ikeda (Angel of Darkness) and produced by Magic Bus.

Burn Up Excess: To Serve and Protect!

Ready, aim, and fire up for another animated adventure with Team Warrior! Join rowdy Rio and her partners—the machine-gun maniac Maya, the lovely Lilica, tech talent Nanvel, guy Friday Yuji, and their boss Maki—as they take on their hottest cases ever! Mechanical insects, firefighting jewel thieves, panty raiders, sexy sheiks, and fawning fathers—there's never a dull moment when the babes of Burn Up Excess are on the job!

Burn Up Excess: Crimes and Missed Demeanors

When a famous pop star is being stalked, racy cop-for-hire Rio is ordered to protect her. But when the singer comes into possession of a mysterious DNA pen, they find a stalker is nothing compared to the pen's dangerous owner! Later, Maki remembers how she first came to meet the craziest cop on the Team. And when Maki takes a vacation, it's up to Team Warrior to solve a series of strange crimes on its own. But can they manage without their fearless leader?

Burn Up Excess: Under the Gun

When a group of killer drag queens get out of jail, they've got their eye shadow fixed on Nanvel's new “makeover” device that renders the wearer beautiful or, on high setting, invisible! Then, in an exciting cliffhanger, Rio and Team Warrior must escort a top-secret tank across the globe. But when the transport plane is attacked, Rio finds herself alone in a hostile desert, with the supertank as her only ally—and her only hope of survival! Don't miss the wildest, sexiest, strangest Team Warrior adventure yet!

The Case of the Black Diamonds

When an army of mecha cops are put on patrol, it looks as if the women of Team Warrior might be out of a job—until the electronic enforcers start breaking the laws they're supposed to protect. But while the cops are in for repair, the Team finds a connection to Maki's past. This mysterious link to the Black Diamond Case proves dangerous for the entire team as Maki discovers the truth about her team's emergence, and the girls face their most dangerous, deadly enemy ever!

THIRD AND FINAL VOLUME OF HAPPY LESSON
HAPPY LESSON: MAMA-LAMA DING DONG ROCKS THE HALLS WITH ITS DRAMATIC CONCLUSION
ADV Films has set a street date of April 27, 2004 for the DVD release of Happy Lesson: Mama-Lama Ding Dong, the third volume of the light-hearted, laugh-out-loud anime series.

Happy Lesson tells the story of Chitose, a teenager who suddenly finds himself surrounded by a bevy of beauties. But these ladies aren't vying for Chitose's romantic affection—they all want to be his mother!

Things really heat up as Happy Lesson comes to its rollicking conclusion! It's almost more than four episodes can hold. But as with everything in this hysterical series, the impossible is not only possible, it's as inevitable as the end of the school day. Poor Chistose is stuck in the middle of all the insanity once again. Mama Kisaragi has developed a split personality as if her regular old single personality wasn't scary enough! Kanna is discovering new and faintly disturbing feelings for our hero. And intrepid and terribly confused Fumitsuki has reached the point where she simply must know what Chitose's true feelings are. As if that wasn't enough, Chitose's worst nightmare finally comes true just in time for a slam-bang ending!

Happy Lesson was produced by KSS (Wedding Peach, Oh My Goddess!) and directed by Akira Suzuki (Blue Submarine #6, MAZE).

MUTANT X: SEASON 2, DISCS 1–2

SEASON TWO OF ACCLAIMED SCIENCE-FICTION TV SERIES

ADV Films today announced an April 27, 2004 street date for Mutant X: Season 2, Discs 1-2, a two-disc DVD release from the second season of the hit syndicated television series.

Produced in association with Tribune Entertainment, Marvel Studios and Fireworks Entertainment, the Saturn Award-nominated Mutant X stars John Shea as “Adam,” leader of a group of reluctant heroes who are unwitting victims of genetic experimentation with astonishing, and sometimes deadly, powers. They are thrust into situations and secret missions to help others when conventional methods have failed.

Hidden from the eyes of the world, the Genomex Corporation conducted radical genetic experiments. But something went terribly wrong. Now, the human results of the experiments are all grown up -- young mutants… with powerful abilities. There's Shalimar, a sensual and agile feral with human and animal DNA. Brennan, who can fire bolts of electricity from his hands. Jesse, who can instantly change his body from solid as a stone to intangible as air. Emma, a pretty "telempath" who can feel what you feel and turn your emotions against you. And there's Adam, their leader and, ironically, the scientist who created them.

The Stories:

“Past as a Prologue” (Episode 201)

In a desperate attempt to save his own life, evil mutant Gabrielle Ashlocke (Michael Easton) revives an ancient Egyptian alchemist who poses a lethal threat to the Mutant X team.

“Power Play” (Episode 202)

The Mutant X team struggles to take down a military colonel who's threatened a nuclear holocaust.

“Time Squared” (Episode 203)

The team must chase the evil Gabriel Ashlocke back in time in order to stop him from changing the present.

“Whose Woods These Are” (Episode 204)

The Mutant X team heads into the wilderness to stop a beast that has been killing hikers.

“The Future Revealed” (Episode 205)

Ashlocke threatens to destroy the Mutant X team and the entire city unless Adam finds a cure to save him.

Mutant X: Season 2 ($19.98 SRP) is a DVD-only release in English 2.0 audio, closed captioned. Includes five complete episodes. Presented in anamorphic widescreen format. Extras include: interview with John Shea (Adam); image gallery; original TV promos; behind the scenes: fight scenes, and special effects/makeup; and ADV Previews.
