Anime Expo 2004: Guests of Honor

Largest Anime and Manga (Comic Book) Convention in the U.S. Takes Over the Anaheim Convention Center from July 2-5

Anaheim, California (June 2, 2004)— With only one month left before the opening ceremonies, Anime Expo 2004 (AX2004) today proudly announced the addition of acclaimed anime director Shinichiro Kimura, and anime character designers Toshiharu Murata and Takahiro Yoshimatsu as Guests of Honor. Hosted by The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation, AX2004 takes place July 2-5 at the Anaheim Convention Center. More information is available at http://www.anime-expo.org.

As one of Japan's finest anime directors, Shinichiro Kimura has worked on BURN UP EXCESS, TINY SNOW FAIRY SUGAR, DAI-GUARD, HAND MAID MA, POPOTAN, among other titles. Fans may be familiar with Toshiharu Murata character design work from BLUE SUB #6, BURN-UP SCAMBLE, and HELLSING. Mr. Murata was also instrumental in the mechanical layout of GAD GUARD, GETBACKERS, and éX-Driver, and the mecha (comic book) in YOU'RE UNDER ARREST!

Takahiro Yoshimatsu is credited with designing many anime fan favorites, such as characters from shows like TRIGUN, DRAGON BALL Z: MOVIE 1, JUBEI CHAN, NINJA SCROLL TV, OH! SUPER MILK-CHAN, and SLAYERS. AX2004 attendees will have a chance to see Mr. Yoshimatsu in action and have a chance to win autographed sketches. AX2004 serves to foster trade, commerce and the interests of the animation and comics industry by serving as a key meeting place for members of the industry to conduct business. Sponsors include Viz Comics, Animerica, ADV Films, Geneon, Tofu Records, Newtype USA and Anime Network. Sponsor hotels include Anaheim Hilton, Anaheim Marriott, or Anaheim Coast Hotels. The cost to attend the three-day expo is $45; One Day Pass: $25; Two Day Pass: $40; Children: $20 (12 years and under; 5 and under free if accompanied by member).
