Tokyopop to publish Totally Spies cinemanga

TOTALLY SPIES IS TOTALLY CINE-MANGA(tm)!

TOKYOPOP to Publish Sassy Spy Book Series Based on Hit
Cartoon Network Show

Los Angeles, CA (June 21, 2004)-- TokyoPop Inc., the
country's leading publisher of manga, and the French
animation studio Marathon have joined forces on a
literary mission: Bring readers the Cine-Manga version of
Totally Spies, the most fashionable book series in the
world! Mission accomplished... the first must-read
volume will be available in bookstores everywhere this
November.

Totally Spies, Cartoon Network's second highest rated
show, is a fast-paced, high-energy action comedy
starring Clover, Alex and Sam, three Beverly Hills teens
who unwittingly become international secret agents. As
undercover spies, the girls must manage to combine
their ordinary schoolgirl responsibilities (homework and
boys) with their extraordinary spy duties (battling
outlandish super-villains and saving the world), and do
it all with style, of course.

TOKYOPOP's unique Cine-Manga line captures the comedic
onscreen dynamic in a lively, original layout that
delights the visual senses. Incorporating full-color
digital images in fresh, action-packed spreads and
sprinkled with manga-style text balloons, this format has
proven so popular that more than a million units were
sold in 2003 alone.

"Totally Spies has all the personality, energy and
verve we could hope for in a Cine-Manga," said TOKYOPOP
Editor Erin Stein. "Clearly, there's a reason why
nearly two million viewers tune in daily to see the one of
the coolest shows on TV."

"TOKYOPOP's Cine-Manga transcends the limits of most
publishing formats out there and has exceeded our high
expectations for capturing the right look and feel of
Totally Spies," said Vincent Chalvon-Demersay,
Marathon President. "Mission totally accomplished."
