EigoMANGA Broadcasts Japanese Pop Music Television Show For The U Network

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – EigoMANGA and Sony Music Japan have joined forces to premiere the best in Japanese pop music to a college audience through the U Network starting January 2005. University students can tune in weekly to Pop Japan TV for the latest episodes of a music video show covering the latest in Japanese pop music. Japanese pop music is becoming popular among anime fans due to the fact that the music is heavily used as soundtrack for various anime series. EigoMANGA is releasing Pop Japan TV through the U Network in an effort to expose Japanese pop as music genre to a college-aged audience.

Pop Japan TV met rave reviews among U Network television executives and college viewers after EigoMANGA ran a trial run of Pop Japan TV during the month of November 2004. The episodes featured popular Japanese pop stars such as Nami Tamaki and successful Japanese rock star super groups L'arc~en~Ciel. This positive response encouraged EigoMANGA to release the program regularly starting January 2005.

"We're thrilled to promote Japanese pop music to a new US audience. I'm personally driven to see this succeed because I'm a die-hard fan of J-rock”, claims Austin Osueke, CEO of EigoMANGA. “There aren't a lot of avenues outside of the anime or import scene to find out more about Japanese pop music. We believe broadcasting Pop Japan TV on The U Network will create that much needed bridge”.
