ADV Announces May 31 Releases

ADV ANNOUNCES MAY 31 RELEASES

HOUSTON, April 26, 2005 —ADV Films, the number one producer-distributor of anime in North America, is pleased to announce two new hot new anime titles streeting May 31 – the hit action comedy Cyberteam In Akihabara 5 and the fantasy adventure Saint Seiya 12!

CYBERTEAM IN AKIHABARA: CYBER FRIENDS

Good Cakes for Bad People

The notoriously anime series reaches its fifth volume, when ADV Films releases the hilarious and action-packed Cyberteam In Akihabara: Cyber Friends, in stores May 31.

Cyberteam In Akihabara is a bouncy sci-fi comedy with broad appeal. “If you liked Pretear, Sailor Moon, or Wedding Peach, then you'll enjoy Cyberteam In Akihabara” (Anime Lives). Created by Juzo Mutsuki, who crafted the original story for Devil Hunter Yohko, and directed by Yoshitaka Fujimoto (Nuku Nuku Dash!, Mermaid Melody: Pichi Pichi Pitch), Cyberteam features beautiful heroines and lots of action.

Synopsis: With the Primum Mobile descending from the heavens, Christian Rosenkreutz will stop at nothing to achieve his goal of awakening the Metatron: neither the betrayal of his very own son nor the destruction of the entire city of Akihabara! Meanwhile, our heroines find themselves in over their heads, as new powers and inner turmoil threaten group dynamics. In an effort to coax Tsubame out from under the influence of the Rosenkreutz, Hibari turns to a secret weapon… her mother's delicious vanilla pancakes! But will the rest of the gang welcome the cantankerous (and frankly, just plain evil) Tsubame into the Cyber Team family? Or will the unit collapse under the pressures of defending the universe?

Cyberteam In Akihabara (SRP $29.98 DVD) is a DVD-only release including 19 – 22 of the anime series, presented in both English 5.1 and Japanese 2.0 with English subtitles. Extras include a commentary track with ADR director Joe Grisaffi and voice actress Tiffany Grant, plus clean opening animation, clean closing animation, and previews of upcoming ADV Films releases.

SAINT SEIYA: ULTIMATE SACRIFICE

The 12th Volume in the Epic Series

ADV Films is pleased to announce the latest release in the Saint Seiya saga, Saint Seiya: Ultimate Sacrifice, which hits store shelves on May 31.

Produced by TV Asashi (Gundam Wing) and Toei Animation (Dragonball Z), Saint Seiya is a sprawling epic steeped in mythology and metaphor, which became an instant classic when the anime first aired on Japanese television. It's a must-see for any anime fan! “All the elements that make up the program, the narration, dialog, pacing, animation, music, SFX, etc, work in perfect unison to make Saint Seiya a truly enjoyable show!” (Japan Hero)

Synopsis: With the fire of Virgo about to go out, Seiya and the Saints are burning time! Only six hours remain before Saori succumbs to her wounds. The Saints' next battle pits them against the Gold Saint Shaka, the so-called “closest man to God!” Ikki's arrival gives the group a much-needed shot in the arm, but will his cosmos be enough against such a petrifying power?

Meanwhile, in the House of Libra, Hyoga remains frozen in an ice coffin. If the Saints hope to resurrect their brother-in-arms, they'll have to clear the path ahead. But Scorpio's venomous Gold Saint Milo has already prepared a nasty sting. No longer able to rely on six senses alone, each Saint must convert his cosmos to the ultimate cosmos!

Saint Seiya: Ultimate Sacrifice (SRP $29.98 DVD) is a DVD-only release including episodes 56 through 60 of the anime series presented in both English 2.0 and Japanese 2.0 with English subtitles. Extras include a special feature on the Saint Seiya mythology plus, clean opening animation, clean closing animation, and previews of upcoming ADV Films releases.
