Anchor Bay Entertainment to Market and Distribute Manga Anime in Canada.

Effective Monday July 18, 2005 the entire Manga Entertainment Inc. catalogue will be distributed by Anchor Bay Entertainment Canada. “Manga is a leader in the anime marketplace. The Manga brand is respected and valued and we are thrilled about the opportunities this new venture will present” –Jerry Woodburn General Manager Anchor Bay Canada. Manga was previously distributed in Canada by Sony Music Video.

Manga Entertainment Inc., an Anchor Bay Entertainment Company, (both subsidiaries of IDT Entertainment) specializes in the production and distribution of Japanese animation for theatrical, television, DVD and home video release worldwide. Manga's cutting-edge film catalog also features Asian live-action, cult, pop-culture and international animation. Manga films are currently distributed in the U.S through Anchor Bay Entertainment. Manga has offices in London and Tokyo, and is headquartered in Chicago. 2004 marked Manga Entertainment's 10 Year Anniversary.

Anchor Bay Canada's first new Manga release will be Ghost in the Shell; The Stand Alone Complex Vol. 7, July 26 2005 and will be available in both standard editions and special Editions. DVDs contain 4 exciting half hour episodes encoded directly from high definition masters, featuring superb surround sound, plus bonus extras. The Special Edition includes a 2 disc set with a t-shirt in a limited edition tin. Vol. 7 concludes season one of the critically acclaimed anime TV series. Season 2 titled S.A.C. 2nd GIG will be available fall 2005. Based on the popular Japanese manga by Shirow Masamune, this high-tech sci-fi anime series continues on with new chapters of the futuristic tale first brought to life in the acclaimed anime feature film Ghost in the Shell. Once again, female cyborg Major Motoko Kusanagi and her fellow police officers of Section 9 hunt down a host of criminals in both the real and online worlds.
