Manga Entertainment Announces Tactics Vol 1.

IDT ENTERTAINMENT'S MANGA ENTERTAINMENT
PRESENTS “TACTICS VOLUME 1” ON DVD FEATURING
FIVE 30-MINUTE EPISODES FROM THE POPULAR JAPANESE TV SERIES

Premieres June 27, 2006

Chicago, IL – 150 years ago in Tokyo. The Samurai era has ended. Westernization is slowly taking hold. However, another culture war is brewing, one between the physical plane and the spiritual world. But is such an alliance possible in a world built on reason and machines? On June 27th, Manga Entertainment, an IDT Entertainment company and a leader in anime DVD programming, presents the first North American DVD release of “Tactics Volume 1,” five half-hour episodes from the wildly popular Japanese television series. Pre-book is May 17th.

“Tactics Volume 1” on DVD contains five exciting half-hour episodes presented in anamorphic widescreen (1.78:1) for the low SRP of $24.98, as compared to the average single volume anime series priced at $29.98 SRP and only containing four episodes (Home Media Retailing).

First aired in 2005, “Tactics” follows the adventures of Kantaro Ichinomiya, an anthropologist whose research includes attempting to bridge the human and spirit world. Just as Japan must adapt to a brave new world, so must its population of demons and goblins, each side suspicious of the other. However, mysterious incidents are still common. Kantaro investigates these strange occurrences, as well as moonlights as an exorcist-for-hire.

During one of his investigations, Kantaro encounters a sealed stone which contains the legendary goblin Demon Eater. He removes the seal and releases a long-dormant goblin. Kantaro names it “Haruka” and Haruka in turn pledges his allegiance to him in hunting down and destroying demons. Yet their pact is a tenuous one. Within their fragile truce, both must confront old resentments and prejudices. Can Kantaro and Haruka overcome their human and goblin differences or are they merely forestalling the final battle between mortal and monster?
