Records Break as Over 30,000 Attendees Take Over the Anaheim Convention Center
Attendance Records Shatter as Opening Ceremonies Usher In the
Beginning of the 15th Anniversary Celebration
Anaheim, California (July 2, 2006) � Over 30,000 individuals stormed
the
halls of the Anaheim Convention Center in colorful costumes of favorite
Anime and Manga characters at Anime Expo� 2006, the nation�s largest
Anime/Manga convention�s 15th year anniversary at the Anaheim
Convention

With a sold out Exhibit Hall swarming with eager attendees with money
to
burn, highly anticipated events occur on the very first day of the 15th
Anniversary Convention such as Opening Ceremonies, CLAMP Panel and the
historic 1st Annual Anime Expo� Industry Round Robin.
With Guests of Honors in attendance (such as Seiji Mizushima, Vic
Mignogna,
Laura Bailey, Mick Takeuchi, Yutaka Izubuchi, Tomoki Kyoda, Koge Donbo,
Hiroshi Nagahama, Atsuko Nakajima, yozuca*, Noboru Ishiguro, Toru
Furuya and
Crispin Freeman) of the standing room only Opening Ceremonies
(Approximately
6,000 seats). Anime Expo� has harpooned its way in establishing itself
as a
major attraction for Anime and Manga enthusiasts world wide.
The same could be said of the CLAMP standing room only panel
(Approximately
6,000 seats). CLAMP consists of four female artists, Satsuki Igarashi,
Ageha
Ohkawa, Tsubaki Nekoi and Mokona, who have created their own original
story
and characters in the Japanese graphic novel form known as �manga�.
They
made their debut as manga artists in Japan in 1989. Since then have
become
bestselling authors, and animation films based on their work have been
prominent on both TV and the cinema screen. CLAMP has also been at the
spearhead of the current flux and rise in popularity of Japanese anime
and
manga in the U.S., with titles such as Magic Knight Rayearth,
Cardcaptor
Sakura, and Chobits. Among the manga and anime audience, CLAMP is one
of the
single most recognized names. The two series that they are currently
writing
in Japan, Tsubasa and xxxHOLiC, are both being published in English by
Del
Rey Manga.

moderated by an internationally respected critic and historian of
animation

in the U.S. Additional topics covered were industry status, industry
obstacles and the future of the anime/manga industry.
As the 24 Hour convention continues. Anticipated events throughout the
remaining days include AX Idol, Masquerade, live concerts, panels,
workshops, nightly dances and Closing ceremonies.
