Karakuriya.com offers authentic Japanese traditional arts

Japan – October 1, 2006 - Online store of Authentic Japanese crafts is newly opened.

Artistic yet witty technology of pre-modern Japan is revived by finest craftsmen.

The website provides 10 types of karakuri ningyo, 18 types of karakuri tansu and the full information of its 400 years old history and much more.

Karakuri Ningyo:

Wooden mechanical dolls invented in the Edo period. The lifelike movements are caused by the power of springs, mercury, sand and no metallic screws or nails. All are handmade and are made of finest wood (teak, birch, and cherry). Takes 20-60 days for the delivery due to the build-to-order manufacturing. Suitable for executive gifts or cooperate gifts.

Karakuri Tansu:

Japanese type of chest of drawers which has mechanical tricks and devices. Originated from sturdy and durable ancient seaman's safety box, and reproduced with the highest security system and the elaborate Japanese beauty. Made from natural plywood (Zelvoka, Sen, Paulownia) and by blind Dovetail Joints method. Commitment to the practical use as a cash box.
