HOUSTON, April 20, 2007 — Today at Anime Boston, the Northeast's largest anime event, ADV Films representative David Williams announced that the company has acquired exclusive North American and home video and broadcast rights for Innocent Venus. This new sci-fi series, which first aired on Japanese television just last summer, is due to hit store shelves August 21st.
“Innocent Venus combines the sci-fi noir of Logan's Run with the fast-paced action of Gantz,” said Williams. “This is a dark series about people struggling against an oppressive system. It features lots of sympathetic characters. If you're looking for a really big story with really big action you've got it right here with Innocent Venus.”
Hailing from famed production studio Bandai Visual (Mobile Suit Gundam, Cowboy Bebop) and Director Jun Kawagoe (New Getter Robo), Innocent Venus is anything but your run-of-the-mill mecha story. This is an exciting, action-packed series with sophisticated settings, great character designs and a fluid animation style that incorporates 3D cell-shading. The entire production is top-notch.
Synopsis: In the year 2010, world-wide Hyper Hurricanes have wiped out five billion people. In the wake of the devastation, a group known as Logos rises to power, taking control of most of Earth's now-precious resources. To ensure their dominant position, Logos creates Phantom, an elite force called on to suppress renegades and rebellions. Now, Joe and Jin, two of Phantom's best agents, have escaped with a mysterious girl who may hold the key to the planet's future.
