Video Games Live comes to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for just two performances by the National Symphony Orchestra. The highly acclaimed program draws its scores from the soundtracks of blockbuster video games, and the events will include game sequences, pre-concert game demonstrations and much more. The concerts take place Friday and Saturday, June 29 and 30, at 8 p.m. in the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. Video Games Live will be hosted by Tommy Tallarico and conducted by Jack Wall.

Brought to vibrant life by a full orchestra, Video Games Live features award-winning music from blockbuster video games, including Halo®, Mario™, Zelda®, Warcraft®, Metal Gear Solid®, Kingdom Hearts®, Sonic™, Everquest® II, God of War®, Medal of Honor®, Myst®, and Tron®. As the music is performed, video game connoisseurs can enjoy outstanding graphics sequences depicting memorable moments from the games on a large screen suspended above the orchestra, with state-of-the-art lighting effects. Some of the games will be familiar favorites in the gaming world, with others representing the cutting edge of gaming technology.

The evening starts well before the concert's downbeat. Audience members are encouraged to come in costume as a favorite game character, and can test their skills with game demonstrations set up in the lobby.

Also prior to the concert, patrons can register for prizes, to include a laptop and video game software.

During the concert, audience members will be selected to come onstage and play one of the video games, with the game displayed onscreen for the rest of the audience. Prizes will be awarded for this participation, as well as for the costume contest.

Afterwards, patrons can meet and greet participants in the Grand Foyer. Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall both have extensive experience writing and producing video game music. Additional participants will be announced at a later time.
