The Slants, an Asian Dance-Rock Band, Announce Anime Music Video Contest

ASIAN DANCE-ROCK BAND THE SLANTS ANNOUNCE ANIME MUSIC VIDEO CONTEST VIA THEIR WEBSITE, HTTP://WWW.THESLANTS.COM

Portland, Oregon-based Asian outfit The Slants - Simon Young (bass), Aron (vocals), Jen Cho (keyboards), Gaijin (keyboards), AC (drums), and Jonathan (guitar) - are one of the only, if not the only, Asian dance/rock bands in the country. With that distinction in hand, the band has found themselves highly in demand at Anime conventions across U.S. - and the world.

To further explore the Anime world, The Slants have announced they will be hosting a contest via their website, http://www.theslants.com, and their MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/theslants), revolving around fans building an Anime video of their music.

Participants may submit an anime music video comprised of The Slants' music for an opportunity to have their video included on an upcoming DVD documentary on the band. Videos may be comprised of footage from anime, live-action movies, cartoons, television shows, video games, or any combination thereof.

Three lucky winners will be selected by the band members - and one fan favorite video will be included on the upcoming release. In addition to having their video on the documentary, the grand prize will be $150 cash and each of the winners will receive an autographed copy of the DVD.

The Slants are currently riding high on the emerging popularity of their debut full-length, the tongue-in-cheek titled "Slanted Eyes, Slanted Hearts", an album full of new wave, synth, pop, and danceable rock, all with an Asian flavor. The album has catchy hooks, smooth harmonies, and anthemic choruses - everything that a perfect record should have. And it has been catching the support of a new breed of fans: anime watching, video game playing, manga reading kids who are in love with the band's sound and show presence. The "Slants army" has been coming out in the thousands, with scheduled appearances in the near future for audiences of 12,000 plus. All this for a band who¹s first show was in June 2007. Talk about an out-of-the-gate success.

The Slants have an extensive tour schedule throughout 2008 and 2009 already on the books. Look for them at a club or anime convention near you.
