Produced by Mana (ex-MALICE MIEZER), Cello Vocalist Kanon Wakeshima Will Make Her U.S. Debut at Otakon

Sony Music Japan is pleased to announce that its exclusive recording artist AND a one-of-a-kind “cello vocalist” Kanon Wakeshima will be making her U.S.debut @ Otakon!!

Rising star Kanon Wakeshima brings a unique and haunting sound composed of baroque cello, strong vocals, and electronic arrangements.
This promising newcomer who took up the cello at age 3, Wakeshima began performing at age 15, splitting her time between performing in classical ensembles and providing vocals to a pop/rock group. A few years later, she entered an audition held by Sony Music Japan and won a major debut.

Her debut single “still doll” released in May 2008, is produced by Mana (ex-MALICE MIEZER – Moi dix Mois), the godfather of the Visual-Kei/Gothic & Lolita scene, which now gather huge attention of sub-culture followers in European and American countries. This song is also greatly featured as the ending theme of the famous anime series, “Vampire Knight”.

This young, unique talent has been acclaimed not only in Japan, but also out in Europe, especially in France.
In accordance with her 1st album “Shinshoku Dolce” release, Kanon has made an appearance at France's biggest music retail store “FNAC”, Champs-Élysées branch and broke its store record for bring over the most crowd for an in-store live event!
