Softbank Creative Nightmare Digital Photo Book for iPhone/iPod Touch Online Now

September 2, 2009 - SoftBank Creative Corp. announced today that it has joined hands with entertainment management company, C-block, to launch a new iPhone/iPod touch app as of August 28th, 2009. Now iPhone and iPod touch users all over the world who visit the Apple App Store will be able to download Nightmare the 9th New Departure, a digital photo book featuring the Japanese rock band, Nightmare. This innovative app has been made possible in part by electronic book download solutions from Celsys Inc. and Voyager Japan, Inc.

Nightmare is one of Japan's most popular rock groups and a major player on the Japanese “visual rock” music scene. Nightmare's 2006 single release, The World/Alumina, was featured in the international hit anime series, Death Note, and cracked the top five on Japan's Oricon music chart. The group also made headlines when it sold out its first concert at Tokyo's mammoth Budokan arena in 2007.

Buoyed by a growing worldwide interest in Japanese pop culture, that includes everything from anime to videogames and more, the unique Japanese rock genre known as visual rock is starting to make major inroads into the global market. It's against this backdrop that Nightmare has been enjoying increasing popularity overseas. The band has been seeing more and more fans from across North America and Europe at their concerts as well as a flood of fan mail flowing into its management office and fan club. The special digital photo book for the iPhone and iPod touch is being released worldwide in response to this mounting global interest. It's sure to fill the void for Nightmare fans living overseas who have limited access to information on the latest trends in the Japanese music scene.

The title of the digital photo book, Nightmare the 9th New Departure, was taken from the band's special concert tour held at Pacifico Yokohama on March 19, 2009 and Kobe International House on March 26, 2009. The digital photo book features pictures from the tour pamphlet sold exclusively at the concert venues as well as 13 never-before-published photos taken during the tour. It's definitely a must-have for Nightmare fans.

About Nightmare

Nightmare first came together in 2000. During the group's indie days, it sold every last demo tape and limited release single CD it recorded. The band made its first major label debut in 2003 and released its runaway hit single featuring The World /Alumina soon after signing with record label, VAP, in 2006. The single's two featured songs provided the opening and closing themes for the popular anime series, Death Note, and went straight to the top 5 on Japan's Oricon music chart the first week it was released. Nightmare topped this record in June 2007 with its single release, Raison d'Etre. The recording hit number three on the Oricon Chart in its first week. The band went on to join the ranks of rock's greatest legends, selling out its first concert in Tokyo's world-renowned Budokan arena in September 2007. Nightmare continues to capture the hearts of fans the world over with their red-hot concerts and unique visual rock fashion style. Ask anyone outside Japan today and they'll tell you when it comes to visual rock, Nightmare is the hottest group around.
