Haruko Momoi Confirmed as the Guest of Honor of Desucon

Haruko “Halko” Momoi to visit Finland for the first time in June
Finland also entering Euro Cosplay tournament this year

Voice actress and musician Haruko “Halko” Momoi, also known as “The Queen of Akihabara”, has been confirmed as the Guest of Honour of Desucon 2010. In addition to focus panels and autograph sessions Ms. Momoi will have a concert on Saturday 12th at 6pm.

Ms Momoi is probably best known for her roles as Komugi Nakahara in Nurse Witch Komugi-chan and The SoulTaker, as well as from UNDER17, a duo she formed with Masaya Koike.

Momoi started her musical career in 2000 with the single Mail Me and the following year she debuted as a voice actress in The SoulTaker. As of 2010 she has recorded six solo albums, three albums with UNDER17, and voiced several roles in anime and video games. She also has her own radio show.

Finland to enter Euro Cosplay in 2010

Desucon will be the first Finnish convention to host the preliminaries for Euro Cosplay tournament finale. The finale is held in London at the MCM Expo on October 30th. Registration for the preliminaries will open in February.

In addition to Euro Cosplay preliminaries, Desucon will host a non-competetive cosplay show open to cosplayers of all levels. J-rock cosplay, lolita fashion and kigurumi overalls are however not allowed in the show.

About Desucon
Desucon is a Finnish convention for enthusiasts of anime, manga, video games and all other aspects of Japanese pop culture. The convention is held in Conference Centre Sibelius Hall, Lahti in June 12th and 13th 2010. Events featured include cosplay, Artists' Alley, Dealers' Room, Game Corner and video screenings. Desucon is organized by Kehittyvien conien Suomi (KcS), an association promoting Japanese pop culture in Finland.

The KcS association was founded in 2008 to promote Japanese popular culture and improve Finnish anime and manga conventions.
