Seven Seas Licenses The Sacred Blacksmith, Kanokon, & Zero's Familiar Manga

(LOS ANGELES, October 4, 2012) – Seven Seas Entertainment, North American publisher of New York Times bestselling manga series Alice in the Country of Clover and Dance in the Vampire Bund, is excited to announce the addition of a trio of fantasy manga series to its slate of 2013 releases—the epic fantasy saga The Sacred Blacksmith, the supernatural harem comedy Kanokon, and the zany witches and wizards series Zero's Familiar.

The Sacred Blacksmith

The Sacred Blacksmith is a sweeping swords and sorcery epic about a female knight and her adventures with a young mysterious blacksmith. The Sacred Blacksmith originated as a light novel series in Japan and was adapted into a popular manga series, as well as a hit anime, which is currently available through FUNimation.

Like her father and grandfather before her, Cecily Campbell has entered the knighthood and joined the ranks of the Knight Guards of Houseman. Eager to do her heritage proud and defend her city, Cecily rushes to the marketplace to stop a
madman from terrorizing the populace. She quickly realizes, however, that she is hopelessly outmatched and ill-prepared for an actual fight. A lone figure named Luke Ainsworth swoops to the rescue, a swordsman and blacksmith of much renown, who will repair the broken sword Cecily has inherited from her father and take her down a road of perilous adventure beyond her wildest dreams.

Volume 1 of The Sacred Blacksmith (story by Isao Miura, art by Kōtarō Yamada) will hit store shelves in June 2013 and include the original color inserts. Volume 2 will follow in August 2013.

Kanokon

For fans of Inukami! comes an all new harem comedy manga about a teenage boy and his romantic misadventures with a feisty fox girl and wily wolf girl. Kanokon originated as an award-winning light novel series in Japan and was then adapted into a popular anime and manga series.

Innocent country boy Oyamada Kouta transfers to a big city high school in his freshman year, and from day one, his life enters a world of crazy . First, a beautiful second-year student named Chizuru professes her love to him, then reveals that she is in fact a fox spirit. Frisky and flirty, she suggestively teases naive Kouta in front of his classmates, embarrassing him to no end. If that wasn't enough, a gorgeous wolf spirit named Nozomu suddenly transfers to Kouta's class and decides she wants the hapless country boy for herself. As fox girl and wolf girl vie for his heart, does Kouta have any say in this?

Seven Seas will release Kanokon (story by Katsumi Nishino, art by Rin Yamaki) as a collection of four economically-priced omnibus editions. The first omnibus will be released in April 2013 and contain volumes 1 and 2 of the manga. The second omnibus, containing volumes 3 and 4, will follow in August 2013.

Zero's Familiar

For fans of magic schools like Negima and zany romances like Toradora! comes Zero's Familiar, a comedic fantasy about a headstrong witch girl and her quarrelsome relationship with a cranky teenage boy.

In a world where sorcery reigns supreme, bumbling witch-in-training Louise Francoise le blanc is known by her classmates at the Tristain Academy of Magic as “Louise the Zero.” During an important coming-of-age ritual, when each student must summon a lifelong familiar, Louise proves herself inept when she mistakenly conjures a teenage boy from earth. Now, whether she likes it or not, Louise “the Zero” and Saito, the ever-whining earth boy from Japan, are bound by the laws of magic as master and servant forever!

Zero's Familiar (story by Noboru Yamaguchi, art by Nana Mochizuki) will be released as a series of three omnibus editions with the first omnibus containing the first three volumes of the manga hitting store shelves May 2013. The second omnibus will follow in September 2013 and contain volumes 4 and 5.
