Yen Press and Square Enix to Distribute English-Language Manga Digitally Worldwide

NEW YORK, NY (October 13, 2012) – Yen Press, the graphic novel imprint of Hachette Book Group, and leading Japanese gaming and manga publisher Square Enix have reached an agreement to become global partners for the digital distribution of Square Enix's English-language manga.

Yen Press will distribute digitally the manga they have licensed from Square Enix through a variety of platforms internationally. This list of properties includes internationally renowned series like Black Butler, Soul Eater, and Pandora Hearts. All of these titles will continue to be available to users of the Square Enix Members Page, but all other outlets will be explored and serviced by Yen Press.

Kurt Hassler, Publishing Director of Yen Press, said of the agreement, "We could not be more thrilled to reach this unprecedented agreement with Square Enix to make these properties available digitally, not just to eager readers in North America and the UK but the world over."

“Advancements in technology and this agreement with Yen Press have given Square Enix the ability to greatly empower its authors,” said Ken-ichi Abe, Senior Manager, Digital Publishing Section of Square Enix of the deal. “The ability to provide English editions of our work worldwide will greatly enhance our ability to reach even greater numbers of manga fans. Meanwhile, we will continue to develop new and exciting stories. Please look forward to things to come!”

Titles published through this agreement will be available digitally starting in Winter 2012, with subsequent releases following thereafter.
