Qpop Gallery Celebrates Tatsunoko Studios with Tribute Art Show

QPOP PRESENTS TATSUNOKO STUDIOS TRIBUTE ART SHOW “SEA DRAGON BROTHERS”

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 27th, 2015 )--Qpop and Q2 Gallery celebrate one of Japan's longest-standing, influential animation companies, Tatsunoko Productions. Join us for “Sea Dragon Brothers”, a collaborative tribute show featuring over forty artists, at our gallery in Little Tokyo!

Tatsunoko Productions helped launch Japanese animation onto the international stage, with hit titles like Speed Racer (Mach Go Go Go) , the Time Bokan series, Gatchaman, Tekkaman, and Super Dimension Fortress Macross.

Founded in 1962 by anime pioneer Tatsuo Yoshida along with his brothers Kenji and Toyoharu, the studio's name has a double meaning in Japanese -- "Tatsu's child" (Tatsu being a nickname for Tatsuo) and "sea dragon", which was the inspiration for its seahorse logo.

In addition to its strong list science-fiction titles, Tatsunoko Productions became famous for its fairy-tale and fantasy series like Minashigo Hutch and The Adventures of Pinocchio. The adaptation of classic western literature like Pinocchio and Robin Hood is another characteristic feature of Tatsunoko. Some of Japan's top animation studios have their roots in Tatsunoko as former employees.

“Sea Dragon Brothers” show dates from May 30th – 21st, 2015.
