The First Slam Dunk Film Will Be Released on Spanish Theaters

Spanish basketball fans, this is the three-point basket you've been waiting for! The new Anime movie of the Slam Dunk franchise will also come to our cinemas: the distributor SelectaVisión officially announces the license of The First Slam Dunk, which will be released on the big screen next July 7.

The film directed by the creator of the Slam Dunk manga, Takehiko Inoue, will arrive this summer to theaters throughout the country, with options in original subtitled version and also dubbed into Spanish and Catalan.

Released in Japan (December 3, 2022), South Korea (January 4, 2023), China (April 20, 2023) and more countries, THE FIRST SLAM DUNK has established itself as a success at the Asian box office, with record ticket sales in South Korea and being the 10th highest-grossing anime film in Japan.

Since its release in Japan, THE FIRST SLAM DUNK has remained at the TOP 1 in theaters for 8 consecutives weeks and still on the TOP 10 for 23 weeks in a row, with a box office over 14 billion yen (over 90M€). Recently, the film won the The Japan Academy Film Prize.

Also in China, the film has broken box office records since its release on April 20, grossing over 80M€. In the upcoming months THE FIRST SLAM DUNK will continue its international distribution, which includes its release in Spanish theaters on July 7.

Shohoku's "speedster" and point guard, Ryota Miyagi, always plays with brains and lightning speed, running circles around his opponents while feigning composure.
Born and raised in Okinawa, Ryota had a brother who was three years older. Following in the footsteps of his older brother, who was a famous local player from a young age, Ryota also became addicted to basketball.

In his second year of high school, Ryota plays with the Shohoku High School basketball team along with Sakuragi, Rukawa, Akagi, and Mitsui as they take the stage at the Inter-High School National Championship.
And now, they are on the brink of challenging the reigning champions, Sannoh Kogyo High School.
