The 25th Anniversary Celebration Continues in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game

Hawthorne, Calif. (February 1, 2023) – February is a month of grand returns, and even grander celebrations in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG)! Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KONAMI) is proud to present three new releases, and excited to showcase not one, but two epic parties commemorating the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game's 25th Anniversary. It all begins with Phantom Nightmare, the first core booster set of 2024. Delve into Dueling's past to discover new tournament strategies and witness the return of one of Dueling's most infamous characters: Yubel! Then, celebrate Dueling's greatest rivalry with the Yugi & Kaiba Quarter Century Accessories and pick your side: Yami Yugi or Seto Kaiba. Finally, relive some of the greatest booster sets of all time in one release, with Battles of Legend: Chapter 1. The most popular cards from the first four Battles of Legend sets make an encore appearance sure to please old-school fans, and new Duelists alike!

February heralds the shadowy arrival of Phantom Nightmare, headlined by one of Dueling's most sinister characters. Hailing from Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, Yubel finally returns in new forms and with new support cards! The full “Yubel” theme starts with a new Level 10 monster: you can Summon it from your hand when your opponent declares an attack, and whenever it's Special Summoned you can search a Spell or Trap Card that mentions “Yubel” from your Deck. When this new Yubel is destroyed, you can Special Summon “Yubel” to take its place. And that's not all! A Level 12 “Yubel” Fusion Monster that's even more powerful! Fuse a "Yubel" monster and 1 or more Effect Monsters on the field, and when this version of Yubel is Fusion Summoned you can deal 500 damage to your opponent for each material used. It can't be destroyed, you take no battle damage when it battles, and at the end of the Damage Step you deal damage to your opponent equal to that monster's ATK (and banish that monster!). New Spell and Trap Cards let you search your Deck for Yubel and cards that mention it; they Special Summon Yubel and keeps your opponent from responding; Fusion Summon with monsters from either side of the field; retrieve banished cards; destroy cards on the field; and search the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX classic, Super Polymerization!

The new “Voiceless Voice” Ritual theme reimagines classic monsters like Saffira, Queen of Dragons, Sauravis, the Ancient and Ascended, and Skull Guardian! This theme's Ritual Spell can Ritual Summon any LIGHT Ritual Monster, and when your opponent forces one of your Ritual Monsters off the field you can banish the Ritual Spell for a free Special Summon of any of the 3 new monsters! The new incarnations of Saffira and Sauravis build your plays, and the new version of Skull Guardian rules the field with search power, an effect that can boost it to 4100 ATK, and the ability to negate the activation of any card or effect! It's all tied together by the appearance of a monster featured in an ages-old Spell Card, Novox's Prayer. This character never appeared as a monster card before, but now it can search cards, revive itself from the Graveyard, power up other monsters, and act as the entire Tribute for your Ritual Summons.

New Snake-Eye cards will also make a big impact on competition! You can Special Summon a new Level 1 “Snake-Eye” monster from your hand anytime you add it to your hand with cards like Bonfire from Maze of Millennia. When it's Normal or Special Summoned, it lets you get a "Snake-Eye" Spell or Trap Card from your Deck like Original Sinful Spoils - Snake-Eye from Age of Overlord. And when this monster's sent to the Graveyard, you can target a FIRE monster in your Graveyard and place it face-up in your Spell and Trap Card Zone. Use the monster's effect to search the new “Snake-Eye” Quick-Play: it places Diabellstar the Black Witch in your Spell and Trap Zone, and in the End Phase you can then banish the Quick-Play from your Graveyard to Special Summon that monster. Together, these two cards will take strategies like Rescue-ACE, Fire Kings, and even Infernoid to new heights. They also make a dedicated Snake-Eye Deck competitive! With the new Link Monster Promethean Princess, Bestower of Flames to revive your FIRE monsters, these Decks just keep getting better.

Heads up, Horus fans! The swarming behemoths from Age of Overlord get more support in Phantom Nightmare, starting with a new Field Spell that copies the name of King's Sarcophagus while it's on the field. It lets you search a "Horus" monster from your Deck at the cost of placing another card from your hand to the bottom of your Deck, so it's amazing for seeking out the theme's most important monster, Imsety, Glory of Horus. It also gets you a free draw when you activate the effect of the new "Horus" boss monster, a Level 8 Dragon with 3000 ATK, and an effect that can send all other monsters on the field to the Graveyard.

Majespecter Duelists get a new Pendulum Monster that's easy to Special Summon, and Sets "Majespecter" Spells from your Graveyard. A new Rank 4 “Majespecter” Xyz Monster searches Majespecter cards by destroying cards in your Pendulum Zone, and Special Summons Wind Spellcasters from your Deck whenever monsters are Tributed. Link Summon the theme's new Link Monster using Pendulum Monsters; when you do, you can add up to 2 "Majespecter" Pendulums from your Extra Deck to your hand, then replace them by adding 2 more Majespecters from your Deck to your Extra Deck. And a new “Majespecter” Quick-Play Spell Card lets you Special Summon a Majespecter from your hand or Graveyard, or even Tribute to bring out a WIND Spellcaster to Special Summon a Majespecter from your Deck.

What else is in Phantom Nightmare? How about new Gate Guardian support, including a DARK Level 12 monster that counts as "Gate Guardian," can't be destroyed by battle, can dodge monster effects and your opponent's activated Spell effects, and wields a mighty 3800 ATK…even more Attack Points than the original Gate Guardian! There's a new “Memento” monster you can Special Summon when it's sent to the Graveyard by another Memento monster's effect; when it's Summoned, it gets you back a Memento card from your Graveyard. You'll also find a new Level 2 Cyberse monster you can Special Summon if a Link Monster's on the field or in a Graveyard, helping build your plays. The best part? When it's in your hand or Graveyard, it threatens to return your opponent's card back to their hand whenever a Link-2 monster you control is sent to the Graveyard or banished.

A new Fusion Monster can Special Summon Flip Monsters from your hand or Deck, face-down and ready to use their effects. A splashable Level 8 Synchro Monster seals your opponent's monsters in their Spell and Trap Card Zone. A new "Terrors" Trap Card lets you banish an opposing monster and searches other Traps from the “Terrors” family. And another Trap Card acts as a one-turn Prohibition for a specific monster name, breaking your opponent's most important lines of play. There's even a new Counter Trap that can give Solemn Judgment and Solemn Warning a run for their money, negating the activation of a Spell Card, Trap Card, or monster effect, and destroying everything in the negated card's column for half your Life Points!
