The Click

September 9th - September 15th

Good morrow to thee, fine ANN readers. This is The Click, a veritable Horn of Amalthea containing as many dates and times for anime shows on TV that any sane-yet-twice-institutionalized man can wrangle together. There's also some pithy commentary and sophomoric jokes, so stick around for that as well. The Usual Caveat: all dates and times are tentative, all times listed are Eastern. Don't blame me; blame the governing body that created Time Zones.

And for those of you who keep up with my MySpace, Livejournal, Facebook, and Xanga blogs, you might remember my grand scheme over the past week or so to abandon this humdrum smalltown life and take my dreams, as well as my epic 3,000-page Trigun/Ranma/Care Bears slash self-insertion Mpreg fanfic, to the fertile grounds of Hollywood! Sadly, those negotiations fell through, literally actually, once the Riot Police were called in. If I might offer a bit of advice to any other budding screenwriters out there: those men dressed as ladies on the streets at night? Definitely NOT heads of development at Paramount. They are probably only gaffers or, tops, consultants.

Thankfully, Zac and my other friends at ANN left their door open for me in case my grandiose dreams of stardom somehow, impossibly managed to not work out. Still, though, I can take solace in the joy my words bring to a niche but dedicated and impassioned readership. Not to mention I can still manage to fuel my addiction to cocaine and Chilean nectarines. All is right with the world!

Sunday September 10 12:30am - Episode 1 "A Shinigami is Born!" (Repeats Sun Sep 10 3:30am)

Bleach finally arrives, one-hundred-percent legal, on North American shores! Though, to be technical, it arrives 26 hours earlier on a certain network on a certain country that the US wears as a hat. But nevermind the technical jargon; Bleach is here, and we have accurate episode titles as well! This is a show with characters, who have names like Ichigo and Rukia, and there is violence in the form of ghost-fighting. Only, they aren't technically ghosts; they're called "Hollows," and they enjoy the taste of souls. Thus, they must be fought. Add a dash of comedic-style funniness and drama, and that is Bleach.

Flashing forward a good six days, episode two of the currently-red-hot show rears its massive sword slingin' self on YTV. Ichigo's gambit to protect his family has paid off, but is alarmed to discover a familiar face amongst his usual group of friends at school. I figure this is probably obvious, but I should probably say it anyway; there are going to be plenty of folks who haven't seen Bleach before and probably won't appreciate spoilers from people who download fresh-from-Japan episodes that are translated by trained monkeys on computers who like to spend more time creating needlessly gaudy and insipid "karaoke" fonts for the opening and closing songs than proofread their actual scripts.

This week: Bo-bobo does goofy antics in the eponymous Cyber City, I watch and laugh with bewilderment, then afterwards I go online and blog about my experience on a Bo-bobo online Role-Playing group, then I go to bed, very alone. Hilarious!

Is this a Very Special Episode of Eureka 7, where the characters learn the lesson that "being cool" with the popular kids isn't all it's cracked up to be? And somebody dies from smoking one joint somehow? No! Instead, Eureka remains hospitalized, and while Renton remains close to her side, Holland tries to keep things afloat by taking on a few somewhat-shady odd jobs. This causes conflict. Will there be resolution? Find out!

Anyhoo, the actual story revolves around numerous happenstances that lead the main Yu-Gi-Oh troupe into a mysterious pyramid filled with the titular Capsule Monsters.
