Bring it on. I'd love for this series to become a new franchise for Sunrise(though hopefully they won't make any staff changes), and it's nice to see the series doing so well when Sunrise had such low expectations for it...plus since it's a superhero series, it's a bit easier to come up with new plotlines without derailing the continuity.

Now if only Viz can hurry up and get the home video rights for the series. We need this show on TV stateside as well.

Well, let's see how this first season ends first...

...though if it goes at the rate it's been going for the last 5 episodes or so, it will be unbelievably epic. This series deserves a second season, hopefully a good one, not like [insert second season you hated here*]. Even if it successfully winds up the plot threads of the main duo, the world of Sternbild is big enough to have many, many more great stories.

I truly hope this is fact. I would love a second season of Tiger and Bunny. I suppose we'll have to see in 6 episodes how the first season fares.

I would like to say that Ozaki, at the Tiger and Bunny panel at Otakon did mildly hint that there could be more Tiger and Bunny, but he didn't outright say that Sunrise is actually going to do it.

All in all, I am hopeful for this news.

This is really great news. It's so refreshing to read that Tiger & Bunny, is doing so well and they are already planning a second season. It's about time that a non-moe show is doing well and is gathering alot of press and positive feedback.

I have only watched the first 9 or so episodes, mostly because I am going to wait for the (hopefully) Blu Ray release from Viz. I can't recall if Viz has ever put out a Blu Ray, but with the success of the Japanese Blu Rays, that contain English subtitles, it will get a respected Blu Ray release in the US.

Sunrise has a hit on their hands and I truly hope they keep up the amazing work and Viz does their part for a high quality local release.

They don't even have to consider it. I've been sold on T&B since the first episode. They already got my money for the first season. A second season is the obvious choice.

This is exciting! I have been a fan since the first episode, and I am looking forward to a future NA DVD release (I honestly expected an announcement by now--I'm certain Viz is working on it, though). There is so much potential here, and I somewhat suspect the first season ending may be informed by whatever decision is made about a second season (given recent plot developments).

VizAnime did an interview with girlgamer where their stateside rep dropped a non-sequitur hint about it; good to see it's being taken seriously.

Fun show.

But that wouldn't do anything for the target audience...

Not surprised at all that execs are scrambling to get T&B a second season. If it's a show that the fujoshi are buying BDs of (typically they had been heavily DVD-buyers) then it's no surprise.

I wonder how many circles who signed up at Comiket under the premise of releasing Hetalia/DRRR/Basara/Reborn/etc BL will instead opt to sell T&B BL doujin. It's certainly the biggest craze atm.

That's me! I already spent over US$200 on the first three BRDs and they were the regular ones. The limited edition of the first one was sold out so I had to settle for the others. I'm sure I would've spent more money if I'd been able to get the limited edition releases. All in all, it'll end up costing me over US$600 to get the whole series imported.

While it's true that there's a lot of fangirls into this series, (1) that was never their target audience, they just picked up one (and in spite of the RAGING ho yay in this series, a feature of many a buddy show, I'd argue that the leads don't fit the neat seme/uke categories that plague BL), and (2) it's been very popular among other groups as well. Blue Rose (and her cleavage) has still gotten as much or more screentime as the rest of the secondary cast, and if her time on screen isn't as much as our two protagonists, that's because they're the protagonists.

It sounds to me as though you're dismissing the series because it happened to pick up a slash fanbase. Do you hate Harry Potter too?

Okay, okay, maybe I'm misreading you, but I am bitter about the treatment this series sometimes gets from outsiders who've barely watched it. This is a great series, and as a female viewer I love it not for the undertones between Kotetsu and Barnaby or anyone else in the cast*, but because of its abundance of excellent plot twists, solid action, and overall pretty damn good writing (even if the animation is decidedly uneven). Episode 16 was so well set up that it left me with shivers.

*if I ship anyone, it's Rock Bison and Fire Emblem from their first scene together, on the grounds that It Would Be Hilarious, my favorite reason for ever going off-canon.

1) It's your opinion. If you think that fujoshi weren't their target audience, that's fine. I'm sure somewhere out there there's a person who thinks Saki's target audience wasn't moe/yuri/slice-of-life fans just because it has some crazy effects and *gasp* a male secondary character.

2)Perhaps outside of Japan. I'm sure it can be big with the super-hero afficionados and the like. However, in Japan it is a fujoshi show. And that's mainly what I was referring to in my previous comment.

And I never got into Harry Potter. I saw the first 2 or 3 movies and that's about it. I read a lot more Sci-Fi than I do fantasy, particularly if it's teen/tween fantasy.
