Pokémon's Eevee Gets Its Own Nintendo 3DS XL Variant

posted on by Sarah Nelkin
Japanese system only available at Japan's Pokémon Centers via random drawing

A poster at the Pokémon Center stores in Japan revealed on Wednesday that the Eevee Pokémon would be getting its very own Eevee-themed Japanese Nintendo 3DS XL (known as the 3DS LL in Japan) system. The poster says “...What? It looks like it's a Nintendo 3DS LL!” (a reference to the phrase that appears when a Pokémon evolves in the games).

As with the previous Pokémon-themed systems, fans can only buy the game system after winning a random drawing. Applications for the drawing began on Wednesday. Applications will be accepted until June 6, and can be downloaded at Nintendo's official website. The system will cost 18,900 yen (about US$180), and will be available to pick up at one of Japan's seven Pokémon Centers between June 22 and July 7.

The first limited edition variant of the 3DS XL was a Pikachu Yellow system that sold out at Pokémon Centers after people waited more than four hours in line. A second Charizard-themed 3DS XL was sold via random drawing near the end of last year.
