Ponyo's Advance Screening in New York City This Sunday

The New York International Children's Film Festival announced that it is hosting a special pre-release screening of Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's Ponyo film at the city's Symphony Space on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. This showing is the first theatrical screening of Walt Disney Pictures' English release on the east coast of North America. The organizers just released a block of tickets to the public, and a standby waiting list will also be forming at the box office one hour prior to the showing.
Walt Disney will open the movie in North American theaters on August 14. The story follows an ordinary boy named Sosuke (Frankie Jonas in the English dub) and his friendship with Ponyo (Noah Cyrus), an unusual goldfish from the seas. The other English-language castmembers include Cate Blanchett, Matt Damon, Tina Fey, Cloris Leachman, Liam Neeson, Lily Tomlin, and Betty White. The Yahoo! Movies and Apple websites have been streaming the trailers.
