Japanese Box Office, November 26-27

Kaibutsu-kun with Arashi's Ohno opens at #1; Kaiji 2, Suite Precure stay in top 8

Eiga Kaibutsu-kun, the 3D live-action film adaptation of Fujiko Fujio A's Kaibutsu-kun supernatural action manga starring 30-year-old Arashi band member Satoshi Ohno, opened at No. 1 during the weekend of November 26-27. Ohno had starred in a live-action television series version and a spinoff television special last year. The film earned the equivalent of US$7,414,035 on 446 screens.

Kaiji 2 - Jinsei Dakkai Game, the live-action film sequel based on Nobuyuki Fukumoto's Kaiji gambling action manga, dropped from No. 2 to No. 3 in its fourth weekend. The film, which stars Tatsuya Fujiwara (Death Note), earned the equivalent of US$1,139,511 on 316 screens for a new total of US$17,108,989.

The latest Precure anime film, Eiga Suite Precure: Torimodose! Kokoro ga Tsunagu Kiseki no Melody, fell from No. 6 to No. 8 in its fifth weekend. It took in US$464,419 on 167 screens for a gross-to-date of US$10,173,635.

The live-action film sequel to the manga-based television series Moteki fell from No. 12 to No. 14 in its 10th weekend, earning US$106,806 on 155 screens for a new total of US$27,628,150.

Scryed Alteration Part I Tao, the first of two films that re-edits the s-CRY-ed television anime series with new footage, fell off Box Office Mojo's chart after debuting at No. 15 during the weekend of November 19-20.
