posted on by Jon Hayward
This week we have nominations, endings and new beginnings;

Studio Ghibli and Hiromasa Yonebayashi's The Secret World of Arrietty and Studio Ghibli and Goro Miyazaki's From Up On Poppy Hill have both made the shortlist for best animated feature category of the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards. The nominations will be announced on December 13 and The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be held on January 13.

Two manga series have announced they will be ending soon with both Vampire Knight (announcement here) starting it's final arc in Janurary and Addicted to Curry (announcement here) on it's final three chapters. However it isn't all bad news, manga writer / artist duo naked ape announced that their detective manga 'Switch' will return to the pages of Ichijinsha's Monthly Comic Zero-Sum at the end of January. The series original 2002-2008 run was previously published in English by Viz Media.

YouTube has launched original channel 'Anime Bancho' to deliver new anime content created by anime studio CoMix Wave Films (5 Centimeters Per Second, Children Who Chase Lost Voices, Kono Danshi series). The channel is not restricted to Japanese viewers and plans to release English language subtitles in the near future. The first video on the channel is a promotional video for a new season of Ryōichi Mori's Peeping Life.

A new Christmas themed film titled Santa Company is planned for release in winter 2013. The film is helmed by Kenji Itoso, the unit director on the late Satoshi Kon's dormant Yume-Miru Kikai film. Itoso's KENJI STUDIO is animating the film based on Naohiro Fukushima's (Eden of the East, Eureka 7: Astral Ocean) script and artist Hidari's (Fractale, Natsu-iro Kiseki) original illustrations. The three main creators have already published a children's novel this month that reveals the premise.
