Pokémon: Mega Evolution Special II to Debut in U.S. as Mega Evolution Shorts Are Streamed

Cartoon Network is airing a 4-hour Pokémon marathon on February 7, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pokémon: Mega Evolution Special II, When Light and Dark Collide!, and An Undersea Place to Call Home will premiere for the first time on North American television as part of the marathon (When Light and Dark Collide! and An Undersea Place to Call Home are episodes that were previously not aired in the ongoing North American television broadcast of the Pokémon XY television anime series).

The marathon schedule is as follows:

• 12:00 p.m. (EST) - Pokémon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction
• 01:30 p.m. (EST) - Pokémon: Mega Evolution Special I
• 02:00 p.m. (EST) - Pokémon: Mega Evolution Special II
• 02:30 p.m. (EST) - Pathways to Performance Partnering!
• 03:00 p.m. (EST) - When Light and Dark Collide!
• 03:30 p.m. (EST) - An Undersea Place to Call Home!

Pokémon: Mega Evolution Special II aired in Japan in Novmber. The first special aired in Japan last April and then ran on Cartoon Network in May. The third special will air in Japan this spring.

TV Tokyo describes the story of the first two acts:

Mega Evolution. A new evolutionary form introduced in the Kalos Region. Is it really possible for all Pokémon to undergo Mega Evolution? This story revolves around a young trainer named Alan and his partner Lizadon (Charizard). Allen's objective on his journey is to "defeat all Mega Evolution Pokémon and stand at the top of the strongest summit." Along their journey Allen and Charizard meet and battle with Mega Absol and Mega Gaburias (Mega Garchomp). Additionally, Allen will battle with Zumi (Siebold), one of the Kalos Elite Four. Does Siebold also have a Mega Evolution Pokémon? Why is Allen so obsessed with Mega Evolution? And what is the real purpose of his journey?

Since this past weekend, the official Pokémon English website is streaming two "Mega Evolution Pokédex" shorts, each featuring Alain and Mairin explaining the Mega Evolution of two different Pokémon, Mega Swampert and Mega Sceptile. The shorts were originally shown after the credits of the Japanese airing of the Pokémon XY anime series.
