Hamatora Gets Film, New Anime With Super-Deformed Characters

posted on by Sarah Nelkin
2nd season of anime revolving around detective agency members with superpowers ended in September

The staff and cast of the Re:␣Hamatora television anime sequel announced at the "Re:␣Hamatora Fes. 2015 Spring" event that a film of Hamatora and Re:␣Hamatora, as well as an anime series starring super-deformed versions of the Hamatora characters, has been green-lit. More details will be announced on the sequel anime's website.

In the original story of the Hamatora project, partners Nice and Murasaki form a detective agency called "Hamatora" in Yokohama in 2014 — but their "office" is a table at Cafe Nowhere where they and their friends wait for clients. An old acquaintance of theirs, a cop named Art, hires them for a serial murder case he is investigating, and they discover that the murder victims are all "Minimum Holders" — those who possess special hereditary powers discovered only in an extremely limited number of humans. As Minimum Holders themselves, Nice and Murasaki are drawn into this case, whether they like it or not.

The multimedia Hamatora project was announced in 2013, and it has spawned a manga series, two anime series, two stage plays, and a Nintendo 3DS game by FuRyu. Crunchyroll streamed both series as they aired in Japan.
