posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Hatsunori Hasegawa, Satoshi Jinbo join cast of film based on Tatsunoko anime

The official website for the live-action film of Tatsunoko Productions' 1974 anime Hurricane Polymar began streaming a new video for the film on Wednesday. The video previews the film's fight choreography, introduces new cast members, and reveals the film's May 13 opening date.

The additional cast members include:

Hatsunori Hasegawa as Tokita

Satoshi Jinbo as Akito Yashiro

They will join the previously announced cast:

Junpei Mizobata as Takeshi Yoroi/Hurricane Polymar

Yuki Yamada as Jōichi Kuruma

Mikie Hara as Rei Hieda

Yurina Yanagi as Teru Minami

The film celebrates Tatsunoko Productions' 55th anniversary. Kōichi Sakamoto (Ultraman Ginga S, 009-1: The End of the Beginning) is directing the film, and Shinsuke Ōnishi (Ultraman Cosmos, Daimajin Kanon) is writing the scripts. Sakamoto is a Jackie Chan fan who became a stunt actor in America. He served as a stunt coordinator, producer, and director for much of the Power Rangers franchise. This projects marks his first time working on an adaptation of an anime.

The original anime series centers on Takeshi Yoroi (voiced by Kazuyuki Sogabe), a man who transforms into superhero Hurricane Polymar. The super-powered suit of his superhero identity can transform into one of five vehicles in order to fight crime.

The 1974 television anime inspired the 1996 New Hurricane Polymar video anime project. Anime Sols streamed the original anime series, and Urban Vision and Discotek Media released the video anime in North America.

Other parts of Tatsunoko Productions' 55th anniversary celebration include its Infini-T Force "full 3DCG" anime and its Time Bokan 24 television anime.
