Naruto's Temari Waves Her Fan at Phoenix Comicon

Mesa—This January 23-25, the Phoenix Comicon is bringing voice actress Tara Platt (Temari from "Naruto,") to Arizona this January 23-25.

"You get to stand in a room with a legend," grinned Matt Solberg, Convention Director, "and we have a lot of legends at the Phoenix Comicon."

Tara Platt has lent her voice to many well-loved animes, American cartoons, and video games. Her voice can be heard in a variety of roles, from Temari in "Naruto," Dream Girl in "Legion of Superheroes," Hrist/Leone in "Valkyre Profile: Silmeria," Genie/Isabel in "HALO 2/ilovebees," and Tokiko from "Busou Renkin." She was also in other series and features like "Digimon: Island of Lost Digimon," "RaveMaster," "Tokko," "FateStayNight," "DearS," and "Boys Be…" Tara has also acted in front of the camera for television shows like "Gilmore Girls," "Charmed," "The Playbook," "One Life to Live," and "DAYS of Our Lives." She can be seen in movies as well, including "Time & Tide," "Scarecrow III," "I'm Through with White Girls," and "BackSlash."

"Talk about fingers in pies!" laughed Kate Davids, Communications Director, "I can't wait to hear Tara's stories."

Tara has been an actress since she was nine and has since acted in Europe and the United States. Currently she is working with Yuri Lowenthal, another guest at the Phoenix Comicon, on their new production company Monkey Kingdom Productions. She continues to work in acting as she expands into writing as well.

"As anime grows, it's influences will be felt all over," said Greg Fennell, Anime Director, "And the Phoenix Comicon is where you'll get to ride the wave."

The Phoenix Comicon is Arizona's largest, multi-media, popular arts convention, focusing on comic books, anime, gaming, music, and film. The Comicon presents a full weekend schedule of guests and programming for hobbyists by attracting the top segments of the comics, anime, and gaming worlds. Characters Walk the Phoenix Comicon Halls

Mesa—This January 23-25, the Phoenix Comicon is bringing in costume experts Kaijugal (winner of Costume Con 26s Single Pattern Contest Best in Class award), Maral Agnerian "Sarcasm-hime" (winner of numerous Workmanship awards), Cosplay Zone (theatrical-based acting troup), and Christophe Tang (voted "Janime/Popjneo's Cosplayer of the Year").

"You get to stand in a room with a legend," grinned Matt Solberg, Convention Director, "and we have a lot of legends at the Phoenix Comicon."

An excellent cosplayer, Kaijugal is coming from Canada to share her extensive costuming knowledge. A lover of Halloween, monsters, and cosplay, her career has been marked with awards and fantastic costumes, like an extremely realistic Godzilla costume. Last year she attended the Phoenix Comicon 2008 as Sam the American Eagle. Most recently, Kaijugal was awarded the Best in Class award in the Single Pattern Contest at Costume-Con 26 for her Boo Cat costume. Not only a proficient costume designer and creator, she is a practiced Masquerade Director and judge, positions she will serve in during this January's Phoenix Comicon.

Kaijugal is joined this Winter by Maral Agnerian, better known as Sarcasm-hime in the costuming world. Also from Canada, Maral believes in sharing her knowledge of costuming, and will be presenting panels about cosplay during the Phoenix Comicon. Her knowledge has earned her many honors and awards, often focusing on her masterful bead work, sewing, design, and techniques. Most recently, she was honored for her Mata Hari costume during the Costume-Con 26 Masquerade.

"The Phoenix Comicon is excited to bring guests from other countries," said Cira Peterson, Director of Costuming, "And we can't wait to see what beautiful costumes they bring with them!"

The Cosplay Zone will be showing off not only their costumes during the Phoenix Comicon, but also their theatrical skill. Cosplay Zone is a large theater troup specializing in bringing anime and manga to the stage. All the members of the Cosplay Zone share a passion for entertaining others and learn many, if not all, of the skills necessary to put on a full theater production. At the Phoenix Comicon, they will be presenting a musical take on the popular anime/manga Ouran High School Host Club using songs from Wicked, Camp Rock, and more.

"The Cosplay Zone puts on a really good show, so we're happy to have them on board for our members to see," said Kate Davids, Communications Director, "After all, who doesn't love a good show?"

Christophe Tang will also be joining the Phoenix Comicon this year. His cosplay has earned him over 30 awards and the title "people's champion" of cosplay. He adds depth to his creations through the use of lights, moving wings, transformations, and other features. Some of his well-loved costumes include the transforming Autobot Smokescreen Subaru WRX and Gundam Epyon. His passion, hard work and love of the art have gotten him voted JANIME/POPJNEO's "COSPLAYER OF THE YEAR" by fans around the world. He has also appeared on the HBO hit series "Entourage." During the day, Christophe is a Senior Game Designer who has worked on such games as Resident Evil, Tetris, and Dance Dance Revolution and even written, acted and voice directed.

"It's fans like Christophe that make conventions like the Phoenix Comicon exciting," said Solberg, "He brings ingenuity to the art of cosplay."
