Good looking animation and beautiful music save this one for me. The story is interesting, though they could use the game setting a bit more for action. Overall it's extremely slow and almost none of the larger plot is solved by the end. If you delve deep into the .hack universe of games and anime you may come away with something amazing, SIGN did have a unique premise. Prepare to invest time and money into the many incarnations to learn the truth behind it all however. |

A beautiful story with equally beautiful animation and music. Every person should identify with atleast one of these characters. A surreal blend of realism, comedy and drama tie in these characters extremely well. The art college setting is a quirky and lovely place to visit and this is an anime that anyone should atleast look into. |

Decent is only for those fans of the game this is based off. It's fun seeing the characters, monsters, skills and locales from the game but this is a mediocre fantasy story at best. Unless you're a die hard fantasy fan or have played the game before, there isn't much to see here. |

A light and short drama piece about slightly magical people. The animation is clean and considering how easy it would be to skimp on such a slow anime, very well done. The musical pieces are nice but repetitive. This anime was a fun watch with an exceptionally beautiful ending but just lacked a strong appeal with it's slow pace and laid back/boring story. |

Let me get my negative comments out of the way. That only one is, I wish there had been more. This anime is nothing like the generic fantasy stuff out there. It's based on real written material that shrines through this adaptation. Beautiful music, animation and a captivating story. The final episode of the last completed arc was breath taking. With a lot of other cookie cutter fantasy anime out there, much like the world of generic japanese fantasy RPGs, this stands far beyond the rest. It does ask for more of your time, patience and attention but so does any solid story and this one deserves atleast that much. |

One of the few scary anime I've come across. This is a great romp through horror, paranoia and myth. Every character has a distinct personality and secrets to be revealed. Everything is quite captivating and you want to know more. Never trust your ears or eyes as you are bathed in mystery and can never quite know what is true or false. The animation does a good job, with a few dips here and there as well as the music. However I can not fully express that I have never seen such frightening animated images as contained here. With a deceiving look of a regular harem-esque highschool story, this anime certainly breaks the mold. |

This sequel keeps up the questions and provides many more answers. The animation seemed to be better through out and everything else was solid. A few new cast members and with almost all the mystery solved, this second season ends quite nicely. In comparing both seasons, I take one point away from this. This season is not worse so much as it is entirely different in mood. Almost all of horror atmosphere is gone and we are left with an intriguing and dark story that lacks the visceral presence its predecessor had. |
